Highlander Details
The LocationThe event will be located within a two hour drive of Inverness. At the request of the estates concerned and also to keep you guessing, no further information about the location will be provided until two weeks before the event. Those with internet access should look on this site where details will be made available. If you expect to be en route to the area or on holiday in Scotland before Thursday evening, it may be best to arrange to telephone a friend who has retrieved the information. Should you become aware of the location by accident, we are relying on you to keep it yourself and under no circumstances to spoil the surprise for others by 'spouting off'. Anyone found to be passing this information on will have their entry fee returned and be barred from future events. RegistrationOpen from 16:00 until 22:00 on Friday night. 06:00 until 09:00 on Saturday morning. Arriving on Friday Night. The car park will not be open until 15:00, so please do not come to the venue by vehicle until then. Wherever possible, please share transport with another team, as parking space is especially limited this year. There will be no car key deposit so please keep your keys with you. We cannot accept responsibility for any loss or damage, should an unfortunate accident occur. Accommodation on FridayThere is very little convenient B&B accommodation in the area. You are strongly advised to bring two tents, camp at the Event Centre and leave your basecamp tent erected during the weekend. Details of any accommodation will be available at registration. Arriving on Saturday MorningWe think that you will enjoy the ambience of the event more if you are able to arrive on Friday. However, if this is not possible, the parking area and registration will be open on Saturday morning. If you are registering on Friday and using accommodation away from the Event Centre or not arriving until Saturday morning, most of you will be given start times nearer to 09:00. Transport from InvernessWe are organising transport on Friday evening, which will carry you directly to the Event Centre. This will be timed to meet flights and trains. There will be the option of returning on Sunday, leaving the Event Centre at 15:00. Unfortunately there are no flights leaving Inverness after 18:00 on Sunday so do not use our bus if flying on Sunday. Glasgow/EdinburghDo not confuse Glasgow Airport with Prestwick Airport which is one hour further south. If you need to take a flight home from Edinburgh or Glasgow, allow four hours to drive there. Fly DriveThe deals available from budget airlines are excellent. We have a special page on the website devoted to helping those who arrive by plane on Friday to get in touch with others to share transport. Useful websites are:
