The UK's highest event on a public road (632m)- Finish on Scotland's Alpe D'huez!  The routes take you from the heights of Cairngorm through the north of the Spey Valley.  This lesser known area has stunning scenery and quiet roads. Pass some of the world's most famous whisky distilleries, but don't stop for a dram! The road undulates through forest and moorland before the final climb to the finish.  Two distances to suite your fitness and ambition. Another classic is born.

The event is held largely within the boundaries of the Cairngorms National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty.  We are grateful to the Park Authority for their support and assistance.  Click on the logo to find out more about the Park and the work of the Park Authority.

We are also grateful for the active support and facilities of Cairngorm Mountain who are busy developing the facilities in and around the ski centre to provide a wide range of outdoor pursuits whilst conserving the valuable and delicate eco-system of Scotland's alpine area.

2008

Well, once again the weather was a little fickle but it seemed to hold for most of the route and only the team at the start/finish had to endure the full brunt of a Scottish 'summer'.  It was certainly better than the day before when we were battered by wind and sleet! The final climb was a tough one but it did keep you warm to the finish!

Early reports suggest that you thought the routes were demanding but pretty and took even the locals up roads that they had not previously ridden. It was also apparent that the enthusiasm of the marshals and feed station teams was a real boon.  As usual, we are very grateful for the very active involvement of the local communities without which our events would not thrive.  Many thanks to Paul and his crew at Cairngorm Mountain for their support and the 'tasty treats' at the end.

Some great pics from Gordon and his colleagues at NorthSport.  The ones on the last climb reveal who was suffering and who was smiling!
